A scope checklist for your first conversation
Use this to ask questions, not to assume any cleaner includes a task. Definitions vary between Louisville providers.
| Area | Maintenance to discuss | Detail or extra to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Kitchen | Counters, sink, exterior surfaces, stovetop and floors. | Oven or refrigerator interiors, cabinet interiors, dishes. |
| Bathrooms | Toilet, sink, mirror, tub/shower and floors. | Heavy buildup, detailed grout work and surface restrictions. |
| Living spaces | Accessible dusting, vacuuming and mopping. | Baseboards, doors, blinds, inside windows, moving furniture. |
| Bedrooms | Surfaces and floors. | Changing linen, laundry, organizing and inside closets. |
Point to the result you want
Instead of “everything needs a deep clean,” name the priorities. For example: bathroom buildup, pet hair along floor edges and kitchen grease. Photos can help a provider understand the condition before estimating; share them directly and keep private information out of view.
Check the boundaries
Ask about high surfaces, heavy furniture, mold, pests, bodily fluids, hazardous materials and work requiring a ladder. These may fall outside an ordinary house-cleaning visit and require a different specialist.
Tell the cleaner about delicate finishes and the manufacturer's care instructions. Agree on products rather than assuming a “green” or “pet-friendly” label explains what will be used.
How Louisville providers describe the differences
One Louisville cleaning company lists dishes and bed making under its light-cleaning service. That is a useful reminder to check the specific package rather than assume those tasks are excluded or included everywhere.
Another Louisville cleaning company's published service page describes a detail-clean rotation system. Ask which detail tasks happen at every visit and which happen on a rotation, especially if a particular room is your priority.
These are examples from providers' published pages, not a ranking, a complete directory or an endorsement. Confirm the checklist and current terms for your own estimate.
